Record Turnout at Summer Family Picnic

Over 200 community members gathered at Rauhaniemi for food, games and sunshine by the lake — our largest picnic yet.

Sunshine, cricket, a swimming race and tables full of biryani — this year's summer picnic at Rauhaniemi brought together more than 200 members of all ages. Families arrived early to reserve the best grilling spots, and the volleyball tournament ran late into the evening.

A heartfelt thank-you to the fifteen volunteers who organized food, games and transport. If you missed it, don't worry: the autumn program is full of chances to meet the community.

New Partnership With City of Tampere

Our integration programs now receive support through the city’s multicultural cooperation network.

The City of Tampere has welcomed our association into its multicultural cooperation network. The partnership gives our integration programs access to city venues, training for volunteers and closer contact with municipal services.

In practice this means more Finnish-language cafés, better guidance for newcomers and joint events with other associations in the region. We are grateful for the city's trust and excited to build on it.

Autumn 2026 Program Published

Eid festival, Urdu classes, employment workshops and the mushaira evening — dates are now confirmed.

Our autumn season is confirmed: the Eid festival in August, weekly Urdu classes for children starting in September, an employment workshop in October and the mushaira and music evening in November.

Members receive early registration for all events. Check the Events page for dates and venues — and mark your calendars now, because the Eid festival filled up quickly last year.

Meet the Volunteers Behind Eid 2026

Sixty volunteers, three weeks of planning, one unforgettable celebration — a look behind the scenes.

Three weeks before Eid, a WhatsApp group of sixty volunteers came alive: cooking teams, decoration crews, children's program leaders and a logistics squad with borrowed vans.

On the day itself, the first volunteers arrived at seven in the morning and the last left after midnight. This story is dedicated to them — the quiet engine behind every celebration our community enjoys.

Members gathered for the annual general meeting to review the year, approve the accounts and elect the 2026 board. Attendance was the highest in the association's history.

The new board thanked outgoing members for their service and confirmed the working teams for events, women's programs, youth and sports, student support and communications.

Urdu School Pilot Was a Success

Twenty children completed our first Urdu course — the autumn course is now open for registration.

Twenty children aged 5–12 completed our first Urdu course, learning the alphabet, songs and everyday vocabulary through games and story time.

Thanks to the positive feedback from families, the autumn course is now open for registration — and this time there are places for thirty children, with two age groups.
